The Eta Mu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., was chartered on November 7, 1991.  Eta Mu Sigma’s origin can be traced to the dreams of a few that became the reality of seventeen professional women.  Dr. Francis Jackson, the Central Region Syntaktes of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. conducted the official chartering ceremony.

Eta Mu Sigma Chapter members participate in numerous national sorority and community service projects throughout the St. Louis area. Many chapter projects are cooperatively implemented with other community based organizations: Operation Big Book Bag, Annual Nation-Wide Community Based Youth Symposium, Buckle Up America-Seat Belt Awareness, Teen Pregnancy Prevention Luncheon-Lutheran Family and Children Services, Choices Program, Annual Baby Shower for Women’s Shelters, Gateway Classic Parade and Football Game: Gateway Classic Foundation, Personal grooming items-Assisting Families with HIV: St. Louis Powerhouse Church, Community and Family Health Fair Day: Prince Hall Family Support and Community Center, United Negro College Fund Walk-A-Thon,  Relay for Life Heart Walk, Martin Luther King Commemorative Breakfast and Shopping for Scholarship – Annual Bus Trip.

The goals of our chapter will continue to propel Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority’s slogan “Greater Service, Greater Progress”
